Comte’s portrait captures a quieter side to the actress, caught in her own thoughts, her body drawn in on itself, as she exhales from her cigarette. However, the work is still imbued with an intensity so characteristic of the actress, felt even in her downturned eyes. Brittany Murphy starred in major Hollywood films including Clueless (1995), Girl, Interrupted (1999) and 8 Mile (2002), before her untimely and tragic death age just 32 in 2009.
